Precision Digital PD2-6300 Helios Flow Rate Totalizer

What sets the Helios apart from other Large Display Meters is its dual line display with super bright LEDs that can be read even in bright sunlight and up to 100 feet away. Based on Precision Digital’s popular line of ProVu® digital panel meters, the Helios can satisfy a wide variety of level, flow, temperature, pressure, & weight applications. It is available with models that accept 4-20 mA, thermocouple, RTD, pulse, strain gauge, AC and DC volts and current, and even Modbus®.

Go with the Helios PD2-6300 when you want to display both flow rate and total at the same time from a pulse output flowmeter. The PD2-6300 can display both flow rate and total in six full digits and can also be configured to display non-resettable grand total. The PD2-6300’s NEMA 4X, IP65 rated field mountable enclosure, super bright LEDs, and wide operating temperature range make it perfect for outdoor applications.

Wall Mounting

The meter can be mounted to any wall using the four provided mounting holes. Note that the bottom mounting holes are located underneath the front door panel. To mount the meter to a wall, follow these instructions.

  1. Prepare a section of wall approximately 11″ x 13″ (280 mm x 330 mm) for meter mounting by marking with a pencil the mounting holes (shown in the image to the right) on the wall.
  2. Using a drill bit slightly smaller than the girth of the mounting screws, pre-drill holes at the mounting locations previously marked.
  3. Insert mounting screws into the four mounting holes and screw them into the pre-drilled holes. Do not overtighten the mounting screws as it is possible that the enclosure could crack and become damaged.

Pipe Mounting

The meter can also be mounted to a pipe using the optional pipe mounting kit (PDA6260). This kit includes two mounting plates, two U-bolts, and the necessary nuts and bolts. To mount the meter to a pipe using the pipe mounting kit accessory, follow these instructions.

  1. Secure the mounting plates to the top and bottom (for vertical pipes) or left and right (for horizontal pipes) of the reverse side of the meter enclosure using the provided fasteners. Do not overtightenthe fasteners as it could cause damage to the enclosure.
  2. Using the provided nuts and U-bolts, secure the mounting plates to the pipe enough torque such that the meter cannot be moved up or down (or side to side).

Applications

Differential Pressure Flow

The Helios PD2-6200 can display flow rate and total by extracting the square root from the 4-20 mA signal from a differential pressure transmitter. The user selectable low-flow cutoff feature gives a reading of zero when the flow rate drops below a user selectable value.

  • Display Flow Rate
  • User Selectable Low-Flow Cutoff
  • Only 2 Calibration Points Required

Convert Pulse to 4-20 mA with PD2-6300

The Helios PD2-6300 accepts the pulse output from a flowmeter and with the appropriate option installed can convert the pulse to a 4-20 mA signal. The 4-20 mA signal can be programmed to correspond to either the flow rate or the total flow.

  • Use K-Factor or Multi-Point Scaling
  • Helios Powers the Flowmeter
  • Display Flow Rate & Total

Open Channel Flow

The PD2-6200, in combination with an ultrasonic level transmitter, makes for an economical way to measure and display open channel flow rate and total in most weirs and flumes and take periodic samples. All the user needs to do is enter the exponent for the weir or flume into the PD2-6200 and the PD2-6200 automatically raises the input signal to that power. Sampling can be based on the total flow or the flow rate. For instance, to display open channel flow rate and total from a 3 inch Parshall flume and take a one pint sample every 100,000 gallons, the user would program the PD2-6200 as follows:

MeterView® Pro Software

MeterView Pro VideoMeterView® Pro software is designed for use with ProVu, ProtEX-MAX, or Helios Series meters and allows users to remotely program, monitor, and datalog using a PC. Remote programming allows for all available meter settings to be programmed through an easy, user-friendly interface. The data acquisition feature allows the user to gather readings from a meter at user-selected intervals and generate charts using common tools like Microsoft® Excel. A linearization setup function is also included. With this utility the user can configure up to 32 linearization points and upload them to the meter. All configuration data can be saved to a file for future use.
This software is accessible via the onboard USB connection on all Helios large display meters, ProVu panel meters, and ProVu-based ProtEX-MAX explosion-proof meters produced since 6 September 2016 (firmware version 4.0 or higher). In order for meters produced prior to 6 September 2016 (firmware version 3.1 or lower) to establish digital communications with a PC, a serial communications adapter is required. For an RS-232 connection, use a PDA1232 adapter.
To determine the software version of a meter:

  1. Go to the Diagnostics menu () and press Enter button.
  2. Press Up arrow button and scroll to Information menu (Info).
  3. Press Enter to access the software number (), version (), and serial number () information. Write down the information as it is displayed. Continue pressing Enter until all the information is displayed.
  4. The meter returns to Run Mode after displaying all the settings.
