The Setra Model 256 is a rugged gauge pressure transmitter built for process control, chemical processing, and general industrial monitoring where the sensor itself sits in a harsh environment. It comes in a die-cast aluminum enclosure rated NEMA 4/IP-65, so it copes fine with washdown, weather, mechanical shock and vibration on a typical plant floor.
Wetted parts are corrosion-resistant stainless steel, so it handles a wide range of gases and liquids without the diaphragm or fittings corroding over time. Inside, it uses Setra’s variable capacitance sensor design, with internal zero and span potentiometers accessible under two watertight plugs, so field recalibration can be done without sending the unit back to the factory. Output is 4-20mA (all ranges) or 0.1-5.1VDC (for ranges of 25 PSI and above), running on 9-30VDC excitation, and wiring is via a removable terminal block behind two 1/2-inch conduit ports. Pressure ranges span from as low as 0-1 PSI up to 0-10,000 PSI, with accuracy of ±0.13% FS on 25 PSI ranges and above, or ±0.25% FS below that. Every unit is factory calibrated to NIST-traceable standards under ANSI/NCSL Z540-1.
From our experience, this is the transmitter to reach for when the installation itself is the challenge, not just the pressure measurement, somewhere with washdown, vibration, or a corrosive atmosphere. Before we quote this, we would normally check the exact pressure range you need, the output signal (4-20mA or voltage), and the process connection, since the 256 is offered across a very wide range spread.
