Natural gas fiscal metering using a DP element under the AGA-3 standard needs gas density and compressibility corrected for the actual gas composition, not just a fixed factor. The Contrec 515 GN05 Natural Gas Flow Computer is built for this, using the AGA-8 Detailed Characterization Method for gas matrices with up to 21 components.
It runs AGA-3 compliant DP flow calculations while accounting for thermal expansion and the primary element’s own calibration conditions. Stacked DP transmitters extend the turndown ratio without losing low-flow accuracy, and gas compressibility, density, and Reynolds number are continuously evaluated via AGA-8 Detailed Characterization.
In actual application, this unit usually sits out on process plant rather than in a control room, so it comes in a weatherproof IP65 field-mounting enclosure with a backlit LCD. It also has an adjustable 8-24V DC sensor supply for integration into plant systems.
