The Contrec 415 Steam and Gas Flow Computer features compensation equations for gas and vapors, including the Ideal Gas Law for temperature and pressure correction without compressibility correction. For gasses with known properties, the Redlich-Kwong¹ equation is used to calculate compressibility. Natural Gas uses the NX-19² equation to calculate super compressibility, while Steam Equations are provided for both saturated and superheated steam. Mass and energy flow rates are calculated through standard equations that determine steam’s specific weight and enthalpy.
The Contrec 415 has a backlit alphanumeric display for easy programming and clear indication of all parameters, including engineering units. It is fully programmable, and all operating parameters are entered through the front panel keypad. The device is available with either direct RTD input (415R) or 4-20mA temperature inputs (415A), both accepting a 4-20mA pressure input. The Contrec 415 can also accept inputs from a wide range of flowmeters, such as vortex, turbine, orifice plate, averaging pitot tubes, wedges, and target flowmeters.
Moreover, when two differential pressure transmitters are used across an orifice or similar device to expand the measured flow range, the Contrec 415 accepts and scales both DP transmitter inputs separately with automatic crossover.
The Contrec 415 is a versatile and reliable flow computer that offers a broad range of functions, making it suitable for various industrial applications. Its easy-to-use interface and compatibility with multiple flowmeters make it an excellent choice for companies looking for a comprehensive flow computing solution.
